About This Course
For children who are ready to go beyond the basics and discover what they’re truly capable of as writers.
Up and Coming Authors is a dedicated writing class for older kids who want to develop real writing craft across a range of styles and techniques. This is not a class about grammar exercises or writing prompts — it is a genuine author experience. Every child builds a portfolio of original writing across the term and finishes with a short story of their own that they share at the Author Showcase in the final week.
This is a small, intimate class where every child’s voice is valued, developed and celebrated.
This term your child will explore:
• ✍️ Character description — learning to show, not tell, so readers feel like they know the character
• 💬 Dialogue — writing real conversations that sound natural and move a story forward
• 🌿 Setting and scene — putting the reader inside a place using all senses
• 💪 Persuasive writing — finding their voice and making the reader feel something
• 📖 Short story draft — planning and writing an original short story using everything they have learned
• 🌟 Author Showcase — every author shares their short story in our grand finale celebration!

• 📅 Ages 09–14
• 🗓 Tuesday 10:00am AEDT ( SYD,MEL,CNB)
• ⏱ 30–60 minutes
• 📆 7 weeks starting Tuesday 20 October
• 💰 $98 per child for the term ($84 Early bird)
